प्रेतशिला पहाड़ी में यम मंदिर

प्रेतशीला हिल, जिसका अर्थ है भूतों का पहाड़ गया के आठ किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। यह हिंदुओं के लिए गया में सबसे पवित्र स्थलों में से एक है, जहां वे पिंड-दान की पेशकश करने के लिए नीचे आते हैं, मृतक की आत्मा की शांति के लिए किया जाने वाला अनुष्ठान। पहाड़ी की चोटी पर स्थित यह मंदिर हिंदुओं की पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार मृत्यु के देवता भगवान यम की प्रार्थना को समर्पित है।

यह मंदिर कई साल पहले का है, लेकिन कोई भी इस समय के बारे में सटीक जानकारी नहीं दे पा रहा है कि इस धार्मिक स्थल का निर्माण कब हुआ था। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इसका निर्माण इंदौर की रानी, रानी अहिल्याबाई होल्कर द्वारा किया गया था। हालांकि, तब से मंदिर कई नवीकरण से गुजर रहा है।

इस मंदिर का एक और आकर्षण रामकुंड टैंक है जो मंदिर के बहुत करीब है। स्थानीय लोगों का मानना है कि भगवान राम ने एक बार उस तालाब में स्नान किया था, और तब से, यह पवित्रता का प्रतीक बन गया है। हिंदुओं का मानना है कि टैंक में स्नान एक व्यक्ति द्वारा किए गए पापों को भंग करने की शक्ति है।

Yama Temple in Pretshila Hill

Pretshila Hill, meaning the Hill of Ghosts is situated at a distance of eight kilometres of Gaya. It is one of the most sacred sites in Gaya for the Hindus where they come down to offer pind-daan, the ritual performed for the peace of a deceased’s soul. Situated at the top of the hill is the temple dedicated to the prayer of Lord Yama, the God of Death as per the mythology of the Hindus.

This temple dates back years ago, but nobody is able to provide an exact time frame as to when this religious site was constructed. It is believed to have been constructed by the Queen of Indore, Rani Ahilyabai Holkar. However, the temple has since then undergone multiple renovations.

Another attraction of this temple is the Ramkund Tank that stands very close to the temple. The locals believe that Lord Rama had bathed at that tank once, and ever since then, it has become a beacon of holiness. Hindus believe a bath in the tank has the power to dissolve the sins done by a person.
